Alpine or JVC Headunit in my eyes,
For decent quality components can usually pick a cheap set of focal, dls or hertz up lately... they usually have good quality
Rear co-ax's depends really personally id stick a cheaper set opf components there such as JBL ones
Sub anything really.... stay away from cheap stuff as the coils burn out
Amp JBL... or Alpine for cheap but quality... Id go for a 4 channel though that way you can amp the sub and rear components or even the fronts for better quality... get speaking to Nick (redloop) on Vagwales hes big into his audio

Alpine head unit w/o a doubt... is it like the golfs where it's a unique design or is it a single din type headunit?
With the speakers, I would suggest either infinity speakers...
Or, as what I have... JBL GTO series speakers, I have no complaints with them anyways ... I would get sound deadening and better quality wiring too... make the system a lil bit better. With the soundproofing in the doors it stops the vibrations you get from the door skin a bit so can go that little bit louder.
Not sure what amp or subwoofer as I only have the speakers and wiring in the Primera atm... wanna get those pre-amps that work the front door speakers (not sure if they're called pre-amps) for that little more oomph too.
Sorry if ive made no sense LOL

Per-Amps = Cross overs, best off not getting the if the speakers didn't have them standard...
Id hunt through www.caraudiosecurity.com or www.caraudiodirect.co.uk
Get some rough ideas and then search Ebay... and get them cheaper thats what i did... also worth checking the forums for headunits
