Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
Right boys, need to know if this shit is legit safe and who does it locally, been reading up on it on other forums and its getting mixed reviews, few people have done it and havn't had problems and some won't risk it as the idea is crazy. Soooooo would like to knoo ur views and opinions?
Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
better off getting the faces of the wheels machined down so the et is higher then getting adaptorzz to space them back out g
gwan! get to it!

Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
Theres a lad in Preston that welds them up and re-drills them. Can't find the details on him at the minute.
At the end of the day if its done proper it'll be sound, one of my wheels is welded and its spot on.

Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
hmmm, i can't really see a problem with it, providing its done properly. but dont just give em to some pikey with a pillar drill, make sure they know exactly what they are doing and how it will affect the strength of the alloy. I've never heard of it being done to be honest.
Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
Wouldnt want them on my car or want to be anywhere near one that had them....tbh. Even if you managed to get it done
i cant see how you could get anywhere near a decent balance and that would put more pressure on the wheel. welding
up a crack is just about ok ......but welding up the holes and then redrilling......scary...

Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
Any decent machine shop should be able to do the redrilling - As for ballance, the most important part is that the spigot is machined true and centrally.
I'd try and steer away from getting the welded then redrilled through the same area. Ideally get them welded then drill through the area inbetween the old bolt holes.
If you look on E38 for a bloke called Scott with a silver Bora I'm sure he's got BMW fitment RS's redrilled and they poke like hell too

Re: Alloy Wheel Redrilling!!!!
Got bored and had a look myself lol
There you go - They are 17" Porsche fitment RS's - Been redrilled to 5x100 to suite bora. He hasn't bothered getting them welded at all. I'm sure he's been running the wheel for a while too. I guess the fact that there decent quality BBS wheels helps to settle the mind there not going to fall apart after the redrill

I would just advise that you dont get em done by a cowboy, make sure they are pro's and know exactly what they are doing!
